About the artist:

My name is Bindi, my mob is the Quandamooka Noonuccal people from North Stradbroke Island.

I grew up in North Brisbane where my family adapted and were accepted on the land of the Turrbal people, the Gubbi Gubbi people and the Ningy Ningy people, and now live in the Moreton Bay Region.

I also have bloodlines to the Kamilaroi peoples of NSW making me a mix of both Murri and Koori.

I am a Mum in Business, a Lady Tradie, a Muralist and a Modern Indigenous Artist.

I am the founder of BindiLee Sisters Onsite, a 100% female Indigenous painting business. My small business provides residential and commercial trade painting services, site supervising for Indigenous based construction training programs through Skilling Queenslanders for Work, and Aboriginal designed murals, canvas artwork and digital designs.

My artistic style not only reflects my saltwater cultural roots but also pays homage to freshwater communities, forged through years of collaboration with traditional Aboriginal artists.

The vision of Bindi Lee Painting Services is primarily to inspire, support and encourage Indigenous people and women in the trade industry.

My mural and artwork projects give me the opportunity to showcase and promote the ethics and cultural background of who I am as a person and painter.

I have a strong passion about sharing my cultural identity and impacting the wider community through paint and story.

Inspiration Behind the art:

This artwork is my representation of coming together to build respect.  In Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, yarning circles are places of no judgement where we learn from one another.
